The Traditional Observance Lodge
Freemasonry has changed over many many years since it “morphed” into what it is now. The lodge business that we do now a days is not what was the main dealing of what was done at stated meetings. The business, the voting on giving people money, the reading of minutes, etc… The core value of Masonry was to bring about an intellectual, philosophical, and spiritual conversation whereby the individual Mason could progress his understanding of the universe and himself. Lectures, presentations, and even poetry where given at every stated meeting to enhance the stated meeting and talk and discuss the harder questions of reality.
After which, the brethren would meet in the dining room after the meeting and drink coffee, eat, or whatever they desire, and discuss what was presented in lodge. This was called the “Agape” and means Love in Greek. There is a website dedicated to bringing back Freemasonry to its true roots and teachings. The Masonic Restoration Foundation (MRF) is able to assist and help bring lodges back to what they should be doing, as long as it’s in accordance to the rules and regulations of the Grand Lodge to which the lodge belongs to.
